Location of Kalinzu Forest Reserve

Kalinzu forest reserve is found in the south western region of Uganda, about 375km from the Uganda’s capital Kampala, near Bushenyi town. Currently, there are no facilities to lodge within the forest reserve; however, for such travelers, there is a variety of places to bed down nearby. Serenity lodges and Campsites in Queen Elizabeth National Park, cater for the different classes of people with various tastes and pockets. Also in Bushenyi and Kasese towns there are guest house and lodges available for the visitors.

Guided Tours and Permits

As with all wildlife areas, visitors are encouraged to take guided tours to allow maximum safety and contact with the educative aspect of the reserve. There is permission for chimpanzee tracking and these can be obtained at Uganda Wildlife Authority or from any tour operating company. Presidents’ permit is best booked ahead of time especially during high traffic seasons as the visitors are limited to safe the physical surroundings.
