4 Days Best of Uganda Safari: Queen Elizabeth & Bwindi Gorilla Trekking.
This 4 days Best of Uganda safari combines two of the country’s most rewarding destinations: Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for diverse savannah wildlife, and the famous Kazinga Channel and Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to mountain gorillas. In four days, you’ll go on game drives, cruise the Kazinga Channel, and trek through Bwindi’s forest to spend time with a habituated gorilla family, making this a well-rounded introduction to both Uganda’s plains wildlife and its primates.

Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and afternoon game drive
You’ll be picked up early in the morning from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe by your driver guide and set off for Queen Elizabeth National Park, approximately 6–7 hours away, with a lunch stop along the way. On arrival, depending on your arrival time, you’ll head out on an afternoon game drive in search of elephants, buffaloes, kobs, warthogs, and other savannah species, with good opportunities to spot lions in the park’s open plains. Transfer to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
- Luxury option: Mweya Safari Lodge
- Mid-range option: Buffalo Safari Lodge
- Budget option: Kazinga Channel View Resort
Day 2: Kazinga Channel boat cruise and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Enjoy breakfast and a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, linking Lake Edward and Lake George. The channel is famous for its high numbers of hippos and Nile crocodiles, as well as elephants and buffaloes that come to drink, and a variety of birds along the banks. Following the boat cruise and lunch en route, you will be driven to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (approximately 2–4 hours, depending on the route and the location of your lodge). You will arrive in time for dinner and overnight, ready for the hike the following day.
- Luxury option: Gorilla safari Lodge/Clouds Mountain Gorilla Lodge
- Mid-range option: Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge
- Budget option: Rushaga Gorilla Camp
Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing, and you will set off with your ranger guide in search of a habituated mountain gorilla family. Trekking time can vary greatly, from 2 to 6 hours or more, depending on the location of the gorillas that day, and you are walking through hilly, forested terrain.
Once you find the group, you can watch them for up to one hour at close range. Sightings are subject to the movements of the gorillas, and the difficulty of the trek varies depending on the gorilla family’s location and the route. In the afternoon, return to the lodge for rest, dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Optional activity and transfer to Kampala/Entebbe
After breakfast, depending on your departure time, you may have the option of a community walk, a visit to a local Batwa community, or simply a relaxed morning at the lodge before checking out. You’ll then begin the return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, with a lunch stop, arriving in the evening at your hotel or the airport for your departure flight.
