The journey takes about 7 to 8 hours’ drive, and on the way, you will have en route lunch and enjoy views of the Rwenzori peaks, crater lakes, tea plantations, and others, and upon arrival, you will connect to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Morning game drive and afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga channel

After an early breakfast, you will meet up with your guide to transfer to the park for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains, where you will be able to view animals like Uganda kobs, buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, waterbucks, hyenas, warthogs, bushbucks, and giant forest hogs, among others.

After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for lunch, after which you will go for an amazing boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, which starts at around 2:00 pm and takes about 2 to 3 hours. During the boat cruise, you will enjoy views of hippos in the water, Nile crocodiles basking on the shores, buffaloes, elephants, and antelopes along the water banks, and spot aquatic bird species, among others. Later, you will drive back to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will have a relaxed breakfast, check out of the lodge and meet up with your driver guide to transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On the way, you will have en route lunch and a stopover in the Ishasha sector for a short game drive where you will be able to view the tree-climbing lions and other animals like buffaloes, elephants, and Uganda kobs, among others. After the game ride, you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and, upon arrival, check into the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: First gorilla trekking experience

After an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge with your packed lunchbox to transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing, after which you will be allocated a gorilla family to trek, a park guide and park rangers. Trekking mountain gorillas in Bwindi National Park takes about 2 to 6 hours, depending on where they are located, and during the trek, you will be rewarded with views of other primates, bird species, plant species and tree species, among others.

Once the gorilla family is located, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them; learn more about their habits, behaviours and lifestyle; take pictures; watch them play, rest, feed, groom and breastfeed young ones; and record the breathtaking moments. After the one hour with the gentle giants, you will either go for an optional Batwa cultural tour or return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
